CAMRA Lunesdale

Pub of the Year 2015

Manager Bru Wood with his certificate

The Lunesdale Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is pleased to announce that its Pub of the Year 2015 is the Royal Bar in Morecambe.

Presenting the certificate on March 31, branch chairman Michael Dillon remarked that before 2012, this pub would not have been considered for any CAMRA award. The new owners in that year undertiook a much-needed refurbishment tha t kept the original features left by previous owners and made sure the modern features blended with the old. The revived pub has made cask-condiitoned ale a central feature of its business and is now popular with residents and visitors alike, aided by a competetive pricing policy.

Accepting the award, manager Bru Wood said, “We have been given other awards, but this is the best. A lot of hard work has gone into getting us this far. But we intend to get even better.” He paid tribute ro Drew Lucas , his “real ale guru” and promised a wider range of ales in the future.
