It was a cold and wet day, which I’m sure affected the turn out. Martin and I caught the 10.27 train to Preston, picking up Mike, and changing to the trains to Blackburn and Clitheroe. It was too wet to explore the castle, so we walked to the Bowland Brewery, sampling their brews with some of their guests. The food looked good, although no one was doing the expensive brewery tour. A short stop in the New Inn in Parson Lane, and I can see why it’s in the Good Beer Guide, ten beers available, all ‘Lancashire’, friendly locals, a real traditional pub. We finished at the Ale House, a new micro in Market Place, again a friendly welcome and great beers. We returned at 16.46, with several changes of trains, back to Lancaster.
