"Most Improved Pub" gets award

(l-r) Chairman Barry Young with Iain Quinn, Jenni Ireland and Peter Quinn

The Taps on the Green (Carnforth) was presented with an award of the “Most Improved Pub 2020” by the Lunesdale branch of CAMRA on 4 August (delayed by lockdown). This award is not presented every year, only when there is a pub of suitable standard that qualifies. The Taps (formerly the Cross Keys) had been lacklustre and struggling for many years until April 2109 when it was acquired by Q Brew, a micro-brewery just down the road. Since then it has taken a considerable turn for the better: in particular, the range and quality of the beer is worth travelling some distance for. Iain Quinn, the landlord, accepting the award, paid tribute to all the people who had helped, the bar manager Jennie Ireland and the band of regulars, who have mostly become regulars in the past year and who had turned out in force on the night.
