The new brewery occupies the same premises as Bryson’s, which closed early in 2011, and went into production in August 2011 with a capacity of 28/30 bbl. The brewing team has been expanded, with a new head brewer in place and new (ex-Moorhouse’s) kit. A visitors’ centre is planned.
This brewery started as a one-man business under the name of “Brysons” in 2000 at Heysham Industrial Estate, Middleton Road, Middleton, using a 5 barrel brewplant supplied by Moss Brew: the first new one in this area for 120 years and a valuable addition since the last old one closed the previous year. Owing to personal pressures, brewing stopped in October 2004, but resumed in July 2005 in association with the wholesalers MBW of the above address. The founder, George Palmer, retired in 2006, selling the business to MBW, but returned the following year as an employee. An under-brewer was appointed in 2008. George finally retired the following year. 2011 has seen a complete overhaul of the brewing operation with a new name, new head brewer and new plant.
