The old school house was founded in 1595 by Archbishop Hutton. Ren, the current owner, has an orchard and a glut of apples every autumn. In 2009, Ian hired a cider press and made cider in his greenhouse, which quickly became the hub of the village. Despite this early success, Ian soon realised that brewing was a more practical business than cider-making and went on a course at Sunderland University. Ren realised his barn would be the perfect premises (with a lot of hard work) and so the partnership was born.
