The West Coast Main Line sweeps past on one side, the M6 the other, but it’s a long way to the nearest junction and even longer to the nearest open station. The bar-room consists of several linked spaces: there is also a separate function room-cum-restaurant. A green parakeet adds life to the place. A snooker table is available. Built in 1856 as hunting lodge for the Earl of Bective, but soon found a new use serving the passengers using the neighbouring Garstang & Catterall station (opened 1840, closed 1969).
