A large crowd descended on The Golden Ball on Saturday to celebrate its re-opening. Fireworks and bonfire, folk music and hog-roast were laid on to entertain about five hundred revellers in this unique riverside location. The pig was eaten in less than an hour and the crackling went down well! Real ale fuelled the fun and the full tide locked us in until 1.00am! Another fifty names were added to a list of supporters of the pub which will again come under the hammer at auction in December. Owners, to give their full name: “Mitchells of Lancaster are unavailable for comment”offer this desirable period listed detached property in extensive private grounds and breathtaking riverfront location for a mere £250,000. Every selfish sod in the world will want it, but “existing planning permission”means just that. We are here to see the Planning Committee respect our statutory rights.
Let no-one imagine that they will be able to convert our pub to a private house without a fight.
