At an event guaranteed to cheer lovers of real ale across the district a respected magazine was relaunched this week. The redesigned, full colour Lunesdale Drinker, beer journal of the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) got an enthusiastic reception from a well attended gathering at Lancaster’s White Cross, Lunesdale CAMRA’s Pub of the Year.
Present were members of the editorial team, writers and contributors to the new Drinker, CAMRA members and supporters, and special guests Stuart and Derek Graham of Capital Media, who had travelled from Nottinghamshire for the occasion. Capital Media now handle advertising and production and are responsible for the magazine’s exciting new appearance.
Lunesdale Drinker, which is distributed free to pubs throughout the Lunesdale branch area, has doubled its circulation with this issue and an electronic version is now available via the internet.
Speaking at the re-launch, Editor Julian Holt, thanked new contributors who had helped revitalise the magazine and the many volunteers who took it out to pubs in towns, villages and remoter areas in what was a “truly co-operative effort.” He thanked in particular “our new partners, Capital Media, who have done a marvellous job, and with whom we have a relationship that is not just professional but exceptionally friendly.”
Capital Director Derek Graham spoke warmly of the firm’s growing links with CAMRA publications and its awareness of the organisation’s thinking and ethos. He looked forward to a “long, fruitful and mutually rewarding relationship” with the branch and its magazine.
The electronic Drinker can be found at www.lunesdaledrinker.com and the next print issue will appear in August.
