We did two walks around Lancaster on Christmas Eve and Morecambe on December 30th, mainly to sample beers specially brewed for Christmas. I had hopes of a large turn out, all wearing Santa outfits, but only got four on each trip, none suitably attired.
Christmas Eve, we started in the White Cross, strolled along the canal to the Water Witch, and then visited the top Wetherspoon, Tap House, Borough and the Bobbin. Xmas ales sampled were — Hawkshead Jingle Fells (I thought this was the top beer), OSB Nativity, Cottage Santa’s Sack, Everards Sleigh Bells, Naylor’s Santa’s Darkside, 3Bs Santa’s Skinful, Lytham Ho Ho Ho and 4’s Santa’s Sack.
The Morecambe “hike”started in the York, and continued to the Joiners, Palatine, Royal, Kings Arms and the Ranch House. Some pubs had run out of real ale and Christmas specials, but I thought the Ranch House still had a nice selection. Xmas beers sampled were — York Snowflake, Thwaites Dray Bells Ring & Yule Love It and Kirkby Lonsdale Jingling Lane (voted my top beer of the day).
