Boat House

by Lawrence Bland

The ‘Three Musketeers’ caught the 1049 train from Lancaster to Skipton, picking up Tom at the station and meeting with five members of the Keighley & Craven branch (two more joined later). We started at the Boat House, opened in March 2016, a great little pub in a delightful location on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, where boats departs on canal excursions. It started raining, which continued for most of the afternoon. We walked through back lanes to the Woolly Sheep Inn. Next came the Early Doors, a new micro opened in February 2016, the Three Links Club, Le Bistro des Amis(more a food & wine bar), the Castle Inn, the Beer Engine (excellent ‘old’ micro, opened in May 2014), Barry liked the Sound Bar (an enterprising business combining vinyl record sales with a variety of cask ales), and finishing at the Narrow Boat, before catching the last train back at 1725 to Lancaster.
