KIRKBY LONSDALE BREWERY VISIT

Tuesday 27th June 2017 by Lawrence Blan’

The ‘Magic Five’ caught the 11.15 bus from Lancaster, picking up David, the editor to make a ‘Super Six’. Barry had organised the trip for a Tuesday, one of the brewing days at the new Royal Barn, Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery’s new home (they are still brewing at their old site as well). Andy showed the group around the new brewery. A large bar with eight of their beers on offer, flights of 3 x ½ pints were available, we didn’t try them all! With a name like the Royal Barn, we had expected a photo of Prince Charles somewhere, as he often features on the brewery publicity. We then had a brief pub crawl, visiting the Orange Tree, King’s Arms and the Sun. Then caught the 3.45pm school bus back to Lancaster, the only bus of the day using the route through Arkholme and Whittington.
