Three members caught the 10.30 train from Lancaster to Manchester Piccadilly, on a cold and windy day, turning slightly wet later in the day. We met four members of the Central Manchester CAMRA Branch in the Piccadilly Tap, including Steve Davis, who had organized an interesting and enjoyable circular trip visiting eight pubs with different characters. We then caught the free bus 2 to the Gasworks Bar, a brewpub with some of the party eating there and some at the next stop, the Knott Bar, a tap for the Wander Beyond Brewery, underneath the railway arches. Back on bus 2 to Shudehill, and a visit to a traditional Holt’s pub, the Hare and Hounds. Then we walked to the well-known Marble Arch Inn, and then to the Jack in the Box, in a food court, in an old market building, their best newcomer in 2018. Next Door was the Smithfield Market Tavern, a tap for the Blackjack Brewery and we finished at the Beatnikz Republic, another brewpub.
