Friday 26th July 2019 by Lawrence Bland On a hot day, we caught trains to Wigan and onto Liverpool, unfortunately trains were running late and were packed, standing most of the way! Four members met with Matt Valentine, the Liverpool CAMRA Social Secretary, who proved guided the party around with great knowledge and enthusiasm , at our first pub, the Sanctuary on Lime Street, where we sampled a Top Rope - Papa Mango from a new Welsh Brewery, interesting, more like an alcoholic fruit juice. We walked over to the Ship & Mitre on Dale Street, now a brewpub for the Flagship Brewery, we sampled their Lupa & Silhouette brews. Then we caught the bus to Old Swan and walked to the Cask, a micro, which had a hat-trick of Merseyside Pub of the Year awards (2016-2018), we tried the Fixed Wheel GWhizz and a Neptune Mosiac from nearby Maghull. We then caught buses back to Lime Street, we decided to leave the extension to the Baltic Quarter for a future trip. We had a final beer in Ma Egerton’s, a Hog Back Surrey Mirvana. Trains back to Preston and Lancaster.
