LUNESDALE CAMRA BRANCH trip to CENTRAL LANCASHIRE

Beer Box (Bamber Bridge)

Friday 27th September 2019 by Lawrence Bland

On a horrible wet day, we caught the train to Preston, bus down to the Bus Station, and bus 113 to Bamber Bridge (the Cann Bridge Ale House opens at 4pm, so we left that to the end of the trip, and we cancelled the visit to the Crankshaft Brewery Tap, as we would have got drowned walking there from Earnshaw Bridge). The first beer was in the new Beer Box micro in Bamber Bridge, we sampled a Bowland Rugger (a special for the World Cup finals in Japan). Bus 125 to Walton Summit and the Beer Brothers Brewery Tap, we sampled their available range, Gold, True Brit, Stouty McSouthface ( a special honouring the mini ‘yellow submarine’ attached to the new David Attenborough Antarctic boat) and the Weizen (Britain getting better at doing wheat beers, and at 5%). We thought we might be marooned here, with monsoon rain outside, but the rain got dryer, so back on the 125 to Bamber Bridge and the other micro in town, the Brig’n’Barrell, I sampled the Elephant School Hopper Strange Things and a 3B’s Oatmeal Stout. Back on the 113 bus to Higher Walton and the Cann Bridge Ale House and their Crankshaft Badass Pale Ale, and finished the day with a 4T’s EPA. Buses 152 and 2 back to the train station.
