Prize-winning pub scoops yet another award

Multi-award winning Sun hotel and bar in Lancaster’s historic city centre is Pub of the Season (Autumn) for the local Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). The certificate was presented at a special event at the pub which has gained a formidable local and national reputation for its range of well-kept cask ales and fine food.

Making the award to Sun manager Dom Kiziek, Chair of Lunesdale CAMRA, Anne Stewardson, said that the friendly atmosphere made all age groups feel welcome. She also drew attention to the Sun’s iconic status: “The formula here has been so successful that it has been emulated in other pubs, not just in Lancaster but around the country.”

The Sun, which has eight hand pumps dispensing real ale, including four from the highly successful Lancaster Brewery, has won numerous awards and was the Morning Advertiser Best Cask Beer National Winner in 2007. The CAMRA award was also in recognition of the regular “meet the brewer” nights which showcase different breweries, many of whose ales are not usually available locally.
